Unbiased

I was accused of being biased today toward one side of the conflict. It's not true . . . although, I probably act that way sometimes because I know more people on that particular side. I'm unbiased as I can be. I see what's wrong and right with both sides and have supported both, gained a blessing from both, and criticized both strongly.

I'm worried about the project though . . . I do NOT want to seem sympathetic to either side. The facts are my focal point and I will pursue them and an unbiased approach as best I can. With excellence . . . with an open mind.

Cinco Pàginas—Purpose Found

I've got my starting conflict. I was struggling for so long with this aspect of the book. I didn't know what I was going to start with. When telling a story it's good to start with some kind of conflict, and I didn't know what conflict to begin with. Now I do. Now I feel like I can actually sit down and write this thing.

Four Interviews

I have four interviews scheduled for today, which means I probably won't get any pages written. (Each interview is about an hour.)

Did two interviews yesterday and a page and a half. The day before saw about four pages written. It's coming along.

I also talked with my professor yesterday and think that I'm going to cut the page count. Two Hundred pages is just too much . . . I agree with him . . . finally. I'm going to shoot for 130 which means I'm over half way there. I want the story to be much tighter too.

He told me, you don't want the good, you want the great. I know that some days I've just been writing to fill a page allotment, which isn't all bad, but I need to also write for quality. I need to remember to write what will add to the theme, the middle thread that runs throughout the book.

If the book is 130 pages, it will also be an easier read.

Well, I just hope the press is still interested. They let me know they got it but I don't know what they think yet. Can't say this is the easiest thing, but it's definitely exciting and something that I want to see through to the end.

Cinco Pàginas—What Does This Mean?

"Thanks! Looks good.
Scott Cady
Pacific Press Publishing Association"

I don't know, but it can't be too bad . . . right?

Cinco Pàginas—Sent

I just sent four chapters to Pacific Press.

I can now eat ice cream.

Cinco Pàginas—Sesenta Pàginas

You betcha!!

OK, so I didn't write 60 pages today . . . but I reached 60 pages total!!! Oh, how exciting!!

And this post looks like it's for Wednesday, but only because I just now finished after midnight. It's also been a long day. haha. But oh, well. Life moves on and so do these fingers of mine . . . even if they are slow some days.

On the down side . . . reaching 60 doesn't mean I wrote 5 pages . . . but since I've been writing more than 5 lately it averages out. (The last two days I wrote almost 6 full pages.) And since it's after midnight, I'll be satisfied for now and catch some Zzzz's before waking up and doing it allllllll over again! hahaha . . . gotta love it! And I do . . . I love seeing the page count go up!
